Welcome to the home page of Alto Clube de Golfe, Portimao.
Alto Clube de Golfe is the club associated with Alto Golf Course. First inaugurated in 1991, the club is based at the 18-hole Alto Golf course in Alvor.
The golf course is currently operated by the Pestana Group and was the last course designed by famous golf course architect, Sir Henry Cotton. A par 70, it is a 5,432 metre parkland course with the front and back nines characterised by two gently sloping valleys. There are several elevated greens & the rolling fairways test and reward all players who enjoy thinking about their golf game.
The club aims to provide golf competitions; manage & control members handicaps and to provide social events for its members. The Club rules are set up to provide a structure around which the club can be run for the enjoyment of all its members.
Alto Golf Club was originally formed in 1991 and was part of the Alto Golf & Country Club based in Alvor. The founder golf club members were Owners & Members of the Country Club.
In April 2011 Pestana were appointed to manage the Alto Golf Course property and invited the golf club to remain based at the Alto Golf Course. The club had to change the name to ‘Alto Clube de Golfe’ of Portimao, to reflect the chnage of ownership of the golf course facilities. Since 20XX the Golf Course has been part of the Pestana Golf Group. Members of Alto Clube de Golfe must also hold an annual Pestana Golf membership, to enable them to play in competitions and events run by the golf club played at Alto Golf Course.
In our club, many European & Worldwide countries are represented and whilst many of our members are resident in Portugal, we also have members who “come and go” from their homes around the globe.
